New Orleans,
Welcome to the website. Here you will be updated with all of the information regarding the New Orleans Palestine Freedom Walk which will take place on October 10, 2009. This event is organized nationally by the American Association for Palesinian Equal Rights (AAPER) and locally by the General Union of Palestine Students-University of New Orleans Chapter (G.U.P.S.-UNO) partnered with New Orleans Louisiana Palestine Solidarity (NOLAPS) and several other local organizations and activists.
Join the New Orleans Palestine Freedom Walk!
Across the United States, AAPER is organizing its First Annual Palestine Freedom Walks for October 10, 2009. The Palestine Freedom Walks will be silent marches, on behalf of establishing an equitable U.S. policy towards Palestine that advances freedom for the Palestinian people. The Palestine Freedom Walks have two major goals:
First, to raise awareness about the situation in Palestine among Americans who will take part in, sponsor and observe the walks, including your family members, friends, neighbors and community members.
And second, to raise funds for a powerful AAPER online advertising campaign calling for freedom for the Palestinian people.
Like the Freedom Walks during the Civil Rights Movement as well as AIDS Walks and Breast Cancer Walks before them, the Palestine Freedom Walks can have a major impact across the United States. But for that to happen, we need your full participation. So please join a Palestine Freedom Walk for early October to show your fellow Americans that the Palestinian people deserve the same freedom that Americans hold dear. The first step is up to you.
Steps you need to take:
1. Register to Walk. This step will hold a place for you in New Orleans' First Annual Palestine Freedom Walk on October 10, 2009. Registration ensures that you have a t-shirt on the day of the walk, but the majority of the proceeds go to AAPER's campaign. You will receive a T-shirt that you will wear during the walk.
2. Recruit Sponsors. This event is to raise funds for a powerful AAPER online advertising campaign calling for freedom for the Palestinian people. The more we raise the stronger it will be. Even though it is not required to participate, we are setting a minimum goal of 5 walker recruits per participant.
Each walker is encouraged to network and raise awareness of the issues to family, friends, and local businesses. All of these contacts can be potential sponsors.
Two ways to sponsor...
a. The best is through this
site, http://palestinefreedomwalkneworleans.eventbrite.com under the "Sponsor
Donation" section.
b. The other, can be done by check, made out to AAPER, brought on the day of the event.
3. Spread the word. Let your friends, family, co-workers and peers know what you will be apart of and show them how they can be apart of it too.
4. Show up and walk with pride. That's it, that's all you have to do to make a change in the lives of the Palestinian people.

Rules to Remember
1. This is a silent walk. Please refrain from singing, chanting or shouting during the walk.
2. Do not bring signs, posters fliers or any other literature to hand out or display before, during or after the walk. Doing so will have you removed from the walk.
3. Please bring a photo ID or a copy of your eventbrite ticket. You will not be able to participate with out one of these.
4. The less you bring the less you will lose. If you can’t carry it through out the event, don’t bring it. All items that are found will be disposed of at the end of the event.
5. Let’s keep it clean. This is our first annual walk, making a mess is the only reason the city of New Orleans needs to make this our last.
6. Have fun and keep good spirits. If you happen to encounter any type of heckling (I highly doubt you will.), just smile and do what you are there to do (WALK).
